Spring at The Playhouse: Showcase, Final Plays, and more
Spring has finally arrived in New York City and creativity is in full bloom at The Playhouse. The second year industry showcase on March 31st was a smashing success. Each student had the chance to perform two scenes in front of three packed houses at The Lion Theater on Theater Row and the industry response was overwhelmingly positive. With no time to waste , the following day the young actors went directly into rehearsals for the final plays to be presented May 2-May12th (Click here to learn more and reserve).
The building is a buzz with the first year activity as well. The three groups are rehearsing for their music and modern dance demonstrations as well as working with their Meisner Acting teachers on their final scenes. These scenes will be done for the school community in our Rita Morganthau Theatre the week of May 4th.
Monday, April 20th we took time out to visit with our illustrious alum, Academy Award winning actress Mary Steenburgen. Mary shared stories of her time at The Playhouse and gave great advise to our soon to be graduates as to how to navigate the transition from conservatory to career.
