At the suggestion of Joanne Woodward (NP Grad) Allison Janney attended The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. After graduating, Ms. Janney went on to many major roles in theatre, film and television. Broadway credits include Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge directed by Michael Mayer (Tony Award nomination and a Drama League Award); Noel Coward’s Present Laughter   (Outer Critics Circle Award, Theatre World Award, & Actors’ Equity award); 9 to 5 The Musical directed by Joe Montello (Tony Award nomination and a Drama League Award); and most recently in the 2017 revival of John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation. Her many memorable film performances include: Drop Dead Gorgeous; American Beauty; The Hours; Finding Nemo; Hairspray; The Help; Finding Dory; Girl on the Train; and, most recently, I, Tonya written by NP Grad Steven Rogers (Golden Globe, SAG , BAFTA, & Oscar Award Winner). Ms. Janney is best known to television audiences for her iconic role as C.J. Cregg on the acclaimed TV series The West Wing written by Aaron Sorkin. Her impressive work during the show’s seven seasons earned her four Emmy and two SAG Awards. In 2014, she won an Emmy Award for her outstanding performance in Showtimes’  Masters of Sex. She currently stars on CBS's Mom (four Emmy nominations with two wins and a Golden Globe award nomination). Ms. Janney received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017.
